Clarity
This piece depicts an imaginary forest. It speaks about three major themes in my body of work: isolation, removal from the implications of real world, and clarity through dissociation.
With lush nature as the setting of this piece a sense of of peaceful isolation is evoked. The dark yet inviting forest is not intimidating, so the observer feels tranquil in their transportation, allowing for an intimate relation to the work. Once the observer is drawn in by the scenery, they encounter a spotlight-lit sphere. Spheres are often the central figures of my work, historically used as mathematical/philosophical symbols of perfection and wholeness. By illuminating the sphere with a spotlight that diffuses its glow onto the forest, the observer’s tranquil move into isolation evokes a sense of undisturbed, untainted clarity.
