BUBBLE came into being from the isolation imposed on us by COVID-19. This is a time where we are physically restricted in our being, forced to keep ourselves in our homes and away from the greater world. However, what is so incredible about the twenty-first century is how, although we are physically bound to our homes, our consciousness has the privilege to escape into virtual spaces. Our minds have relocated to our electronics, and this new world is beginning to feel like our only constant and reliable connection to life outside ourselves. The news, our friends, and our work have all digitalized themselves.
One can feel so displaced, disoriented or dissociated. Our minds must still focus on the “normal” aspects of our lives, but our bodies are immobile. We are overwhelmed by uncertainty yet every day seems the same. I wanted to create a place disconnected from our current reality, somewhere unfamiliar to our minds and bodies, somewhere anyone could peacefully escape to; to reflect and explore without the anxieties of our present reality.
I created a virtual space. It is surreal and never ending, time does not effect it. It is not connected to our world. It is inspired by 2D works of art I have made in the past, and essentially you are walking inside a painting. It is not a video game, it has no goal, do with it what you will.
There are 15 spaces to discover on the island.
